Storybook Pumpkin Patch

We are growing a storybook pumpkin patch and we need your help! Decorate a real or artificial pumpkin to look like one of your favorite book characters. Bring it to the school library to plant in our Storybook Pumpkin Patch! **No Carved or Cut Pumpkins!**

  • Decorate a pumpkin that is NO larger in size than a basketball.
  • DO NOT use candy, food, or spray paint to decorate your pumpkin.
  • Acrylic paints or permanent markers work best. Spray paint will gradually dissolve the pumpkin.
  • DO NOT carve, cut, or poke holes in your real pumpkin.

Due to the limited number of visitors allowed in the building, students MUST be able to carry his/her pumpkin BY THEMSELVES. Bring your pumpkin to the library at 7:30am, October 18th – 22nd. Take your pumpkin home on Friday, October 30th. If your child needs help getting their pumpkin home, please plan ahead. All pumpkins that are left behind will be thrown away by 4:00pm.

Participation is completely voluntary. Each decorated pumpkin will earn the owner one prize (limit one pumpkin per student). You will get your prize when you pick up your pumpkin. Please email hannah.walker@risd.org if you have any questions. Have fun and be creative!
